iPhone 4/4S Repairs
The most common issues with the iPhone 4 are front and back glass breakages. Apple have designed the iPhone 4 so that the retina LCD is fused to the touch sensor and front glass. Even if it is just the front glass that is broken, you will need to replace the front component containing the LCD + Touch Sensor + Glass. Genuine Apple front panels contain the “Gorilla Glass” that is more resistant to breakages and scratches. Non-Genuine panels are cosmetically identical but come with standard glass instead of Apple’s “Gorilla Glass” and are more susceptible to breakage and scratching. This genuine component is disproportionately expensive and has led to almost all other repairers resorting to cheaper, non-genuine components, and claiming that these are genuine. At iExperts, we feel strongly against competitors cheating customers and feel that our customers should be informed of this practice. iExperts provide the genuine Apple component at a competitive price, comparable to other repairers “supposed genuine” components. We also provide the option of the non-genuine component (at a significantly lower price). When enquiring competitors about pricing, please ensure that their repair will not affect Apple’s manufacturers warranty. For iExperts genuine glass replacements your Apple Warranty remains valid, we will put this in writing. When getting your iPhone repaired with another repairer, ask to see the component first. If the sensor hole (above the speaker hole) is a purple colour, and the panel doesn’t come with the speaker mesh or front camera support fitted, it is the non-genuine component that they are fitting. The iPhone 4 has two common faults that are covered by Apple’s Warranty. The microphone can stop working whilst on a call, so the other party cannot hear. This is a hardware fault in the iPhone and cannot be repaired. The other fault is the Home Button Switch that can become progressively unresponsive. If your iPhone 4 suffers from these symptoms, you can get your iPhone replaced at the Apple Store under warranty (within 1 year of purchase) with a Genius Bar Appointment at http://www.apple.com/au/retail/ or by calling AppleCare on 133 622.
iPhone 3G and 3GS
The most common issues with the iPhone 3G/3GS are :
The glass on the iPhone 3G/3GS are fused to the touch sensor. These need to be replaced together. Please note that in some cases, due to old age and wear and tear, the rubber surrounding the glass may have deteriorated to the point where lifting the glass out of the phone causes it to ‘flake’ off. In these cases you may choose to replace the middle chassis with a new rubber frame for an extra $15. The genuine parts for the 3G and 3GS have a low fault rate with the touch sensor. Aftermarket components tend to have a high failure rate. You can pick out an aftermarket glass by looking at the translucent sensor holes above the screen. If they are transparent and you can see the sensors inside, it is an aftermarket component with a high risk of touch sensor failure. Another way to tell (for a 3GS) is the ‘feel’ of the glass surface. The genuine 3GS glass comes with an anti-fingerprint oleophobic surface. Aftermarket glasses without this coating feel sticky and dry. iExperts provides genuine parts for all 3G and 3GS repairs (excluding housing replacements). You can have peace of mind knowing that your iExperts repair is performed using the same high quality components Apple uses, installed by highly experienced technicians. Apart from the use of aftermarket parts, other iPhone repairers tend to overcharge by ‘creating’ issues with your iPhone. Please note that if the total cost of repair for your iPhone exceeds $200, it is better to simply get it replaced with a refurbished unit from Apple for $249. You can get your iPhone replaced at the Apple Store with a Genius Bar Appointment at http://www.apple.com/au/retail/ or by calling AppleCare on 133 622.

The genuine parts for the 3G and 3GS have a low fault rate with the touch sensor. Aftermarket components tend to have a high failure rate. iExperts provides genuine parts for all iPod Touch repairs.
